Ok, i've been watching college football all day, i've noticed that alot of the college QB's are running all over the place. Why doesn't this trait translate to the NFL? I understand about not wanting the QB to get hurt , but it's a great threat.

I think the linebackers and DEs in the NFL are too good for it. They are bigger and quicker in the NFL and can catch a scrambling QB easier making that style of play ineffective.

I agree with what you said, but why not throw some plays in where it makes it effective?

Couldn't you just rename this thread: The Blacks

(with Tim Tebow being the exception to the rule)

When you have guys like Jevon Kearse on defense who in his prime that can run mid to low 4s in the 40, the running quarterback isn't as effective as it is. In college, they have those players, but they are spread out among more teams.

Beat me too it, I was going to say "Because cities like GB just wouldn't accept a black QB."

In the NFL you will take hits that will kill you. You'll have occasional human highlight films like Mike Vick but it will never translate into sustainable football success.

Oh yeah, Mr. Vick was a dope smoking game quitting lying dogfighting future jailbird that milked about a gazzllion dollars out of Arthur Blank.

But I digress.....

Quarterback runs should be reserved for short yardage only. If your main offensive weapon is a running QB, then your offense blows. Quarterbacks should be fast enough to evade defenders long enough to get rid of the ball. They shouldnt be running backs who happen to throw sometimes.

In other words dumb down the offense for the "Running"(7) QB

(7) On the problems related to the idiot at QB see Atlanta Falcons (http://tinyurl.com/2g6u5r).; for a contrasting view, see Rev Jesse Jackson (http://www.patentmonkey.com/PM/Portals/0/ThinkingMonkey.jpg).

Steve Young?

Steve Young?

Steve Young was excellent all around. If his line was better he wouldnt have to run so much, which means he wouldnt have taken so many hard shots, which means his career wouldnt have ended so early.

Steve Young was a scrambler, not a predominant runner. There is a difference. He looked to pass before throw.

I think another Vick will come along, that is a smarter and actually a hard worker and will turn the league on its head. There is nothing like the dynamic of your QB being able to take off any moment on a 70 yard run. You saw flashes of it with Vick, and like him or hate him, it put fear in defenses and was exciting to watch. Imagine someone who would actually take advantage of his talents.

I watched the Florida- FSU game yesterday, and Tebow was amazing. That kid has 51 TD's this year 29 throwing & 22 rushing. He was running over linebackers and throwing 40 -50 yard bombs. BTW i'm an FSU fan and he whipped our ass.

He is an amazing college qb, he would get killed in the NFL.

He is at an even bigger disadvantage for the NFL then Vick. He is not an elusive runner and does not have as good as arm.
