We will not be turning that function on. Basically because it is really hard to manage the add ons we have installed.

I will be looking into a mobile version though.

You could do what i've been looking to do on my board...

Make some extra profile fields, that default to the colors that you want to be the site's default colors.

Then just edit the headerinclude template and put each $field var in the place of your common color values. Should make mod management easy, as you are only editing one template.

If you're not going to be adding any themes, at least consider changing the default one to something easier on the eyes.

I like the gold. But I think a gold on black theme would kill. Black based themes are just easier on the eyes for some reason. Especially since I spend most my day staring at a display.
