This college football season has been so up for grabs. Right now I would have to go with LSU

Ugh, Ohio State should never have lost that game to Illinois. They were clean number 1 until that point. BUT LSU deserves one right now...hopefully 2-4 lose so Ohio State can play LSU in the championship (I know, I know...it isn't going to happen).

Georgia got fucked. The BCS should be ashamed of themselves. When number one and two lose on the same night then number 3 and 4 take their place. College football sucks.

Fuck LSU being in this game. They have lost 2 times since UGA last lost.

With that said, Ohio state will get ran again by another SEC team.

This sucks, we need a fucking playoff.

I don't think any of us Tigers can deny that we backed into the championship game, the logic really isnt that crazy this year. An SEC team should be in the championship because of the strength of the conference. LSU won the SEC championship, so they should be there. I just wished we would have played Georgia this year because this could turn into the damn USC thing all over again. Really, it was a toss up between Ohio St., LSU, Georgia, and Oklahoma. Any combination of these would have been a good game.

More importantly, how did Virginia Tech get #3 when LSU is the only tough team they played and we beat them 48-7. I was really pissed when they were ranked higher than us prior to this weekend.

Arkansas was not even ranked.
:qft: Seems like that loss would have sunk them...

I mean OU lost to TexasTech... I'd have to guess if they hadn't, they would be undisputed, even with the early loss to Colorado.

I'm not a big Sooner fan, but I am an alumnus.

That is what bothers me the most about LSU. The argument about the current system is that every game is like a playoff. Well LSU was number 1, twice, and lost both times. My thoughts are they have had 2 chances, and now getting a 3rd.

The system is a farce.

I am sick of the BCS too. This year it worked in LSU's favor, but it has screwed us too. I'm still sick of USC claiming the Co-Championship because they didn't agree with the BCS Championship game in '03. I am sure this year it's going to be worse.

I'm just glad we don't have to play Notre Dame in a bowl game like we did last year. Just cause they're non-conference and have a lot of fans doesnt mean they're good.

FalconsGuy

I just hope UGA gets a 1 or 2 ranking next year, which they should, so that we can lose 2 games and still have a chance at the National Championship game.

That's one thing that I don't get. They commented on the selection show last night that, "Should a two loss team go to the championship?" But the only teams that are not at least two losses are: Ohio St., Kansas, and Hawaii.

Ohio St is going.
Kansas is arguable, but their schedule was nothing amazing. A few legacy teams that were not too hot this year.
And Hawaii, being the only undeafeated team in the country doesn't mean crap when you play in the WAC. BTW, GA is going to kill those SOBs in the Sugar Bowl.

Besides those, LSU should still be a contender for the Championship. I can understand not being happy about it, but I think Oklahoma and maybe Kansas are the only ones that can really complain about it. Even though GA may very well be better, they didn't win the SEC and that is as close to a playoff system as we have.

...Oklahoma ... are the only ones that can really complain about it.I'd agree with you if I didn't hate Stoops.... They lost to Texas Tech and Colorado though... True OU fans (born complainers) tend to forget those kinds of details.

That's my thoughts too. Also, they were in a pretty weak Big 12 this year. Not that Ohio St. played a whole lot of badasses either.

Curious if any of you would say weirdest ever (since BCS implimented) or has there been any that were stranger?

In '03, LSU somehow jumped USC all in an effort to keep Oklahoma in the championship game. Then LSU beat Oklahoma (because we were better) and USC tried to claim Co-Championship because they felt they should have played us in the Championship game. There are still "FUSC" bumper stickers in Baton Rouge because they tried to shit on our first championship since 1958 and only second one total.

Although, this season may still be more strange or at least more pathetic. I'm not sure which one yet.

By far the biggest cluster fuck.

The only thing I think is worst is the year Auburn went undefeated and did not have a chance because of the preseason rankings. Total bullshit. At least all of the teams this year had their shot. AU did everything they could and got fucked.

Yeah, I forgot about that crap. That's when the SEC fans started getting pissed that we weren't getting a fair shake at the title even after LSU beat Oklahoma the year before when the rest of the country thought we would be stomped. I think the Florida trouncing last year may have given us some recognition and hopefull LSU will do it again for back-to-back SEC champions.

From Wikipedia:
[edit] 2004 undefeated season
Auburn completed the 2004 football season with an unblemished 13–0 record winning the SEC championship, their first conference title since 1989 and their first outright title since 1987. However, this achievement was somewhat overshadowed by the Tigers being left out of the BCS championship game in deference to two other undefeated, higher ranked teams, USC and Oklahoma

That, and Oklahoma vs. Ohio State would prove that the BCS plays favorites. It would only be more obvious if they somehow created a duel championship game with Michigan vs. USC.

meh, a buddy and I were arguing about all this shit last week...

it seemed to me that if they made a few changes, it might be there... dare I say I was defending the BCS as not a terrible system...but...

They need to eliminate that "Pre season" rankings bullshit

They need to eliminate the guaranteed game for the conference champions (and is that also related to limiting the teams per conference?)

Seems to me that the weak conference, or strong conference throws things off most of the time... Seems to me if they could eliminate conference bias (while retaining "strength of schedule), the system would be more realistic on these complex years... that's just me though...

He said what most likely will happen is this "+1" situation...

I have held for years that if the BCS determines the championship game, and a third team wants to challenge, they should be allowed to, but if they lose, they should be penalized TV rights, or something financial...

Say MIZZOU wants to crybaby about their selection... okay MIZZOU, you can play the winner of the championship game, but if you lose that game, you will pay $500,000 in rights/scholarships (something)

A lot of schools be STFU'ing pretty quick then...

If its any consolation here's a little insight into how we feel down here:
I was at the LSU v ARK game and the feeling the after that game was that we didn't deserve a title shot. On top of that we would probably lose our coach to Mich. and Bo Pelini to NEB. We still have to play for the SEC championship without our starting QB and a team suffering from one of the most hectic and trying schedules ever, with many of our best players injured.
This crazy weekend has left most fans stunned yet elated and the rest of the country shouting what we have been saying for years. The system needs to be changed. I think there are other teams deserving of a shot at the National title, but for once things worked out in our favor. I don't think Ohio are on the same level as a healthy LSU team. Before this weekend we were hoping for a match up with GA. I ain't gonna apologise for what happened all I can say is that LSU worthy or not provided one of the most entertaining college football seasons ever and are gonna shine on the 7th of Jan.
GEAUX Tigers!

They need to fix the system, somehow, but I doubt any of the Presidents from the big conference teams has the balls to do it. I know Hawaii plays in a weak conference, but from what I understand is that no one wanted to play them this year. They tried to schedule some of the major teams, in their back yard, and every one said no. I think that every team should have 1 game on their schedule that is not booked years in advance. Then based on the final rankings( say the top 50) games are scheduled. That way some of the teams from the weak conferences, get to show their stuff against "the big boys".

Dude! Wouldn't a playoff system fix all that as well! I agree with most of what you say but still don't think a team like Hawaii given the same strength of schedule as other conferences deserve to be in the title game. I really think you'll see this gap in quality when they play GA. A Playoff fixes everything!
