View Full Version : SkyFi3 "Jump" Button Problems???

I just got a SkyFi3 (upgraded from SkyFi2 for the mp3 capability). The "jump" button on the remote will only recall the last channel entered in directly. It will not jump back to a previous channel if it was a preset/favorite.

So, if I turn the unit on, click thru 20 or so presets, then hit "jump," it goes back to channel 1 (XM Preview) since I haven't made a direct channel entry since turning it on. Arrrrgh!!

Anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: Not sure why the EDIT button isn't showing up, my rules says I may edit so...sorry for the additional post because of that.

Also, if anyone else has a SkyFi3 and is able to use the "jump" button to switch back & forth between presets/favorites (i.e. not just between directly entered channels), please let me know so I can return mine. Maybe I just got a bum unit...??

Thanks, but trying not to break the bank on this one. I'm sure the Inno is a fabulous piece of engineering.:okterrific:

If you're referring to the Inno2, yes, I could get it with the home & car kit for about $130 total. For the Inno1, it would run about $220 total -- not going to fork out that much at this time. I'm not interested in the FM Buddy, which would defray costs somewhat for the car option. The new SkyFi3 with home & car ran me about $100.

The other thing is that I've already installed the SkyFi3 in my car and did a damn good job of it -- probably better than most professionals, in fact. All the wires are nicely tucked away behind the dash -- only wiring you see is a few inches at the antenna to the trim and 2 inches from the dash to the radio itself. If I can find a fix for the SkyFi3 issue and save myself all the trouble of removal/reinstallation of those components, that would be great.

<steering this thread back on topic...>
Just heard back from Delphi tech support. Even though I updated the firmware first when I got the radio, they recommend resetting the radio to factory default because "sometimes the unit does not accept the new firmware update completely and resetting the factory defaults gets the unit to fully accept the firmware update..." Nice...so I'll have to reprogram all 30 presets...can't wait for that utterly time-consuming joy of a task.

I'll post the results after I get a chance to reset it...

That's an option but...

...now that everything is installed, my money's left my PayPal acct., etc. I'd rather not go to the trouble. My time is worth something and I don't want to spend another evening doing the same install for a 2nd time. By the time I got the RMA to return it, uninstalled everything, dropped it off to be shipped, ordered the new one, reinstalled it, etc. etc...we're probably talking at least 4-5 hours of my time. Yes, $20-25/hr is pretty good, but not good enough for my free time, imho... For one thing, I wouldn't have time to chat it up with you guys! :)

Don't overcomplicate it.

Make sure you can return the one you have.

Buy the new one from crutchfield.

Keep your wires installed, and only unearth the cradle and the radio itself.

Put the wires / antenna/ power cord from the crutchfield in teh original box along with the original radio.

Put the newly acquired cradle and radio from crutchfield in your car.

VOLA no having to reinstall everything.

I just cant stand people having to pay full price.

Whatever route you go, good luck.

I had the skyfi3 for like a week, but it really wasnt a true replacement for my skyfi2... (non-compatible cradles, no real fm modulator, buttons not the same) so I returned it.
