Maybe its because I can't post during the CBS portion of the show for the most part (between my waking up and morning commute). Maybe its because the XM side of the show is given the shaft on a regular basis that you only see bad stuff posted by me.

If I could post between 6 to 8am, there's be a lot more good stuff to say because thats where the show focuses their efforts.

The XM side isn't the priority to the show...but happens to coorespond to when I have the most free time to post.

I'm not here to piss people off, but I'm also not here to win any approval or popularity contests either.

If this means we can't be e-friends / emessageboardbuddies and stuff well then what can you do?

I can understand them not making them XM side a priority now. until they have a contract in place. They don't use up all of their vacation days. Ope has said they get something like 5 or 6 weeks vacation. He has said if they wound up taking all their vaca time people would bitch about it. Yet it still happens if they leave early and stuff. Im sure you make sure to use all your vacation days. I personally wouldnt work my ass off if I knew I could be unemployed by xm in 8 days. Remember this has been going on for a few months. When XM didnt pick up their option by the specified date. Plus they said they hadnt been paid for a month.

Yes, I did and boy I made an impression on you with that comment apparently ....

But that discussion seemed to skew really quickly into something totally not what I was going for.

I remember I kept hearing the promos for "lets bring back guess whats in my pants, or the 6 oclock queef" or whatever. My thought process was then to think about how its the show who's not talking about their own promotions and thats why they aren't getting participation.

I don't believe (and feel free to dig back into the listening thread that day to prove me wrong) I was commenting on how shitty the show on XM was when I mentioned the WOW promotion... the comment in that CONTEXT was about how you don't see WOW stickers anymore, and don't get wow'ed cause they DONT PROMOTE IT anymore.

Excellent analogy. And if I was in their shoes, it'd be a tough call for me. Leave early and piss off fans? Or take advantage? I don't honestly know which way I'd do it... but I don't know the specifics of their contract and what it allows for. Apparently it does let them leave early when they want to.

If I was dead serious about pulling in the largest fanbase and putting on the best show possible, I'd probably stay.

If I was pissed off at my contract situation, or ratings, or show in general, and had pleanty of "F U Money" (as they like to call it), then probably I'd go home early when I could.

What bothers me about them leaving early is when we talk about it... they call us haters and say "dont listen if you dont like it." That attitude and sense of over-self-worth is what I have a problem with.

If they left early, then took calls where people complained about them leaving early, and said something like "yea we know you are upset and you are right" then maybe I'd be a bit more OK with it.

Noi - that WOW comment rubbed me the wrong way that day. Thats all. Since it was a great show that day. Thats all. I will say this one. Since you mentioned that one. I have been paying attention on wednesdays to see how many commercials I hear.

As for the analogy. I was in a similar situation a lil over a yr ago. I had a contract for work. Then was working without a new deal for a month. Which pissed me off. Thats probably why I take that one personally as well. Since I left 3-4 vaca days on the table and was getting screwed over with my new contract. Well screwed over at the time. It worked out in the end. but still pissed me off. Where I didnt do as much work as I had done before. Since I wasnt sure if id have to start looking at espn, cbs or yahoo for a job.

None of our jobs are remotely similar to OnA, unless you work in the radio industry and satellite radio. Your job isn't to entertain and gain listeners. If you (and this is a broad "you") take off early, or don't go in, not to many people are going to be disappointed. They take off early? Fine. But don't be surprised when your fanbase is irritated that you leave them...


And I agree that their jobs are very different from most. Many jobs can have responsibilities offloaded to others and the customer down-stream has no idea one person is gone.

When O and A leave, its obvious.

Now MAYBE, if they stuck a few of their many staff to at least keep a live show going that'd be something. I really do crave live content. I ALWAYS tune out between 11am and noon when they have the reruns on. If they had a live show on, I'd stay around.

As Opie mentioned today, it really must kill TSL (time spent listening) in that hour before Ron and Fez. Although in the satellite market, I'm not sure if that is as important as it is on TERR radio.

Thats true Wes. My job isnt similar to their job. I work for an internet company. I dont do satellite radio or work in the radio industry.




If they take off early say 8 -10 x in a 3-4 month span. How many listeners would they really lose in that short term. if this was over a longer span. I could see what your saying. ( Like if they did this consistently over a yr 3-4 x a week) Let me use the vacation reference again here. They could pretty much say we didnt take a week vacation. But took it in smaller doeses. Like leaving early or taking off a day here or there. Some people take a weeks vacation all at once. Other people may take a weeks vacation in days. A day here and a day there on the xm side. Should they say we arent doing the XM side on the cbs side. YES. So its just giving people a heads up. Sometimes its out of their control though. See last week with opie and his allergies. I think friday was the first time Ant and jimmy did a show by themself. The only reason they probably did it friday was because they had a ton of guests. Just like when ant didnt come ina few months ago and ope and jimmy did the show.

I thought the O and J shows were pretty cool because the vibe was so different. How about when it was Ant and Jim?

Jimmy dominated the interview with Omar, from "The Wire," so it wasn't that much difference. Opie would have been quieter than usual because of that, had he been there. Jimmy was in the zone, a funny motherfucker, and did a great job interviewing Omar. Pat from Moonachie (sp?) came on air for the last ten minutes, and they cut out at about 5 'til 11, if I remember right. Pretty unveventful aside from the interview.

They were a bit all over the place. Like FMF mentioned. Theyw ere supposed to do Wii Fitness. I know Pat showed up but they forgot about the contest. Maybe ebcause Omar stayed for the entire 2 hrs at XM. Plus the Dane cook int at XM as well. You could tell Ope wasnt there though. They were a lil out of sorts. They had a few problems with the buttons when Ope left on the CBS side. Right when Chickliss walked into the studio. You have to laugh at the people that say shit about ope now. He does a great job of steering the ship.

Well lets just hope that when wii fit day does happen, they do a lot of prep for it.

You ever use one of those things? My brother in law brought his over and it takes like 5 to 7 minutes PER PERSON to set it up for one guy!

And its not multiplayer.

So if they just hook it up, I don't know how good it'd translate to radio if they have to set up every person one by one.

I hope it'd be many Wii's, many Tvs and people's profiles already setup.

I might complain about content and prep (or lackthereof) but I do understand Opie's importance in running the show in terms of pacing etc. I never dispute that fact.
