But, why do O&A use CD players for bits? I used to work for a college station with shitty ass equipment from like the 70s and we still hooked a laptop and mp3 player up to the board. It seems like the CD players always cause problems. Is there a practical reason they use CDs?

Opie likes to smash them when they are done.

This is true.

I am thinking that maybe they have a machine that isolates the sound directly onto a CD. That is all I can think of, because obviously they do some things digital and are a high tech show. I just always found it odd that with the technology out there they have skipping CDs all the time.

Because they taste better than .mp3 files.

Actually, there is probably better sound fidelity, since the bured files are larger, just a hunch

Yea I thought of that too, but you could also rip them as wav files instead of mp3s and not really lose much quality if any. I think there has to be a more logical reason.

Actually I've always wondered the same thing. Doesn't make sense to me...
