I need some help. Can anyone recommend a good virus scan for me? Price is not an option anymore. I am so pissed. I currently have Norton's 360 security on my desktop computer; but it sucks. It never picks up any viruses. I also have Spy Sweeper and that actually catches viruses more than this shitty Norton. So, please help. Thanks.

Backup and reformat, what i allways find to be best, that and not googleing for horse gag. But if your hell bent on using anti-virus, i've heard McAfee and AVG are pretty good.

Before you do anything else, hit up one of the free online virus scans. What these do is load an activex or java control that will scan your system.

Theyre not the best, but they work for diagnosing simple problems. This one is my favorite:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

As for 100% free? AVG antivirus. http://free.grisoft.com/ I've been using it for over 3 years now, and Im so happy with it, i actually have my parents using it.

To REALLY show how happy with it? I convinced my ex-wife it would be the best solution for it.

It does live file scanning, scanning on demand, and a scheduled scan. Daily updating at no charge.

Its your absolute best bet right now

Using Bitdefender v10. It's an f'ing animal when it comes to viruses. Not free though. I agree trendmicro is a good online scanner. Panda is also very good but is resource intensive and militant.

McAffee used to be the best... I let mine expire while my laptop was busted, so when I got it fixed, I just re-upped for 3 years... It sucks now...hogs everything... I finally figured out how to turn it off, and it's not so bad...but what good is it now?
