And I don't really care to hear from anyone saying something like:

"Oh, I used to be a huge Pixies fan" or "I liked his song about Los Angeles" or any of that shit...

Who has followed him through any part of the Catholics and/or up to now?

If none, then let this thread die.

indeed it is. I just got his most recent this week... it is under the name Black Francis - album title, "BlueFinger"... it is very rocking this one. Maybe some of the best lyrics I have seen him write, course it's still new to me.

I think I posted this here because I see a number of threads re: O&A and "do you have any friends who listen to the show" ...and a lot of people are solo listeners here... I find that very parallel to fans of Frank Black... I do not come across them, hardly ever...

I got one good friend of many years that is a die hard fan like I am... Funny, when I first met him, he had some FB+C blasting, it was an ablum I didn't have at the time, and I asked him "Is that Frank Black?" and he went nuts that I even knew who it was...

So anyway, hello fellow fan.

Blue Finger... ty for the heads up... I had no idea he had anything new coming out... I will pick that up as soon as Ron and Fez in wrapped up... FB+C are highly underrated... I got to see them play at a club here in Tucson that only held about 200 people... one of my favorite live shows

Nice.

Yeah, I usually miss releases, and find them randomly searching Amazon...

Fantastic band yes - I saw him at the Troubador in WeHo a long long time ago, pre Catholics I'm sure...

Saw FB+C at a small venue in Little Rock... it was a warm up show for a long tour they did, So cool...then I actually caught them on that tour after having moved to Atlanta...

It's totally awesome that he/they play small venues... they tour very humbly and real.

Frank Black is best known as the front man for The Pixies... if you don't know who The Pixies are you should do yourself a favor and check them out... After The Pixies broke up in the early 90's Frank Black or Black Francis has had several bands and solo projects... he's one of the most important artists of the last 25 years... Nirvana said Smells Like Teen Spirit is a Pixies rip off... Radiohead said they had to stop playing guitar because they were just ripping off The Pixies... His solo stuff has not had the commercial or social impact of The Pixies but he has made several incredible albums... I can barely remember a time when I haven't been listening to his music

it really does sound like hype from a zealous fan base, but it really is terribly true :

Checking it out nownice that you are interested enough to give a listen...

I don't suppose it's this way for everyone, but I have always had to give his work multiple listens in order to kind of groove on it...exception to that being this most recent work...

but generally, there's a lot there lyrically, and musically, generally, the composition is hardly conventional

Anyway, like it or not, cool for you to investigate. :thu:

Slackjaw, there's not a solo Frank Black album that I don't own - I even love the single with Teenage Fanclub.

I have heard that single but do not own it...

Here's one I do though, that I tend to hear little talk of...

Mike Watt put an album out a long while back, where he collaborated with tons of cool artists...called "Ball Hog or Tugboat"

There was a Frank Black track on there called "Chinese Fire Drill"

Nice light song, great album all around.

it is kind of counter-intuitive... pushing back makes it LESS painful actually.

hey y'all. I'm going to post some Frank Black vids from youtube in here from time to time - If you have any to share that would be cool. I like to splatter them on my myspace page as well.

Here is "Your Mouth Into Mine" from Bluefinger. I don't think this is official vid, but something someone put to this song...not that that makes it any less interesting.

Cheers! and happy new year.
